2 years ago today I did my first distillation on a borrowed HBS still.
Thanks to the encouragement from folks on this forum, I have stuck with the hobby and have a great group of on line friends to hang out with.

It does seem to be the sort of hobby that if you enjoy it you pick up knowledge fast

Ha ha. Ditto. And congrats!

After my first run where I strictly followed SS directions, I was off to the forums immediately to start learning safety and methodology. Of course, my first wash was a turbo, the spirit was collected between 78 and 92 and the spirit was promptly carbon filtered.

There had to be a better way. For my super reflux, I found it here. So, I know what you mean by sticking with the hobby.

Thanks for that AT, I'm only 33 so still have a bit to go before being a full blown hillbilly.
I have spent more hours than my wife would like reading up on this stuff.

Well....I wasn't moving house, (just forums )....
however, +1 on all comments about your quality of posts i.e. "you could've fooled me" re your experience vs your intelligent content etc.
