Why is it, when using either a hydrometer of alcohol-meter, the calibrated scale always appears on the side facing away from me? Or, does it just happen to me?

And why does it still face the same way if you turn the whole testing jar round?

It\'s all todo with Murphy I think he\'s the little man that\'s sat in the tube and paddles it up and down to give you a reading. He can\'t look you in the face so he keeps turning round.

the spirit hydrometer is basically a fairly simple affair that gives a reading of length, therefore i often fox \'murphy\' by marking my glass measuring jar with a bit of tape and rechecking the length on the outside with the hydrometer firmly in my grip, ha ha try n turn now you little bugger
