corn/sugar wash
Hi all started my first attempt at a corn/sugar mash yesterday
2kg cracked corn
6kg sugar
alcotec whisky yeast with amyloglucosidase
cook corn in 3 gallon water for 1,1/2 hours till corn is soft and most of the starch is released, strain in to ferment er, dissolve sugar in this hot wash, rinse the corn with hot water to get any remaining starch out then top up with cold to 26-28 litres leave to cool (3hrs) sprinkle yeast on top wait 15 mins and stir in. sg1090
will let you know how it goes in a few days Alan

corn/sugar wash
Hi alan where did you buy the cracked corn from,I wanted to try goingbroke2\'s cracked corn wash but after a lot of searching the only place that I could find it was at an animal feed merchant but the smallest sack they had was something like 50kg,a bit to much to buy in one go.

Dont get me wrong but I dont see the point in this.
Wouldnt all the taste of the corn be removed when running through the still ??
Or am I missing the real point of doing this ??
Again, no disrespect
