I have not tried either of those brands, but don't let that put you off having a little punt on one that appeals to you.
What satisfies one person will have a different affect upon another.
My own guilty pleasure is Prestige Coco Rum Essence, - Malibu by any other name.
I pride myself upon trying to make peated Malt Whisky the hard way, but cheerfully own up to buying this essence ;D

I bought an essencia kentucky bourbon from local home brew shop knowing it was not well reviewed, but wanting a guideline and knowing I could re-distill the worst of it out if it was really bad.

I used maybe 60% of the recommended dose, added some vanilla and honey and as of today a little glycerin/glycerol and have found it really helpful as part of the learning process.

edit : the essencia one I bought is branded fermanagh/essencia to sound a little Irish perhaps.

One man's meat is another man's whatevers.
Adding honey, golden syrup and maple syrup in varying amounts can have major effects upon a product.
Part of the game.
And that's before you get into some of the syrups that someone like our man Icefever uses.
I wanna say that I hate a smarty pants, but he is a likeable one. >:

That old adage has been my mainstay to live by for years...

As we talked about at our little soirée Mrs Ice & I love our flavoured drinks.

I make my own Rum,Gin,Vodka and Bourbon.
This covers most of our drinks, but
sometimes you want something different.
That's when I use flavourings. Some are
even very good. Still want my own, it
gives me a sense of achievement. :)

The Still Spirits icon pouch flavourings are amazing. Relatively expensive but the quality is superb. Butterscotch schnapps and the Arancello are fantastic.
