take off pipe

Postby Magnu420 » Sun Nov 02, 2014 2:11 pm

ok guys il be starting on my boka build this week and just
wondering about the take off pipe. do you think I should drill
the hole at 30 degrees like the slant plates are or just drill the
hole straight. I know the thermometer port is at a angle and I think
if the take off hole is at the same angle as the plates it should elimninate
any pooling.also im gonna have to get another ss needle valve as
the one I got is gonna be too heavy any pointers on the valves
that you use

drill in straight/perpendicular to the body, you can oval the hole with a file easily to accommodate an angle for entry.

i followed the plans and used 1/4" 6.4mm tube for the exit.. if doing again i would make it 10mm tube. its the bottleneck for collection, and limits how fast you can run.

i used a file to work both hole and tube so i could wedge and pull tight on the tube with a coat hanger cut spring clip to hold it in position for soldering. best if you can solder plates and tubes in in one as otherwise its a faf wrapping with damp rags to ensure the plates stay in when adding tubes..

i would post the pics but im being told all my pics are invalid files???

cheers fil
if you still having problems uploading pixs you can rar them up and upload it somewhere
and send me the link.
now you got me thinking about using 10mm instead of 6mm

as for the valve I did look on valves online and they have gone up since I last looked they
are £22.80 where as before they were £9.99 also minimum spend is £25 on that site
so it looks like its gonna be from fleabay and from china

as for the valve the one I have gonna need reducers to bring it down to either 10mm or 6mm
also I noticed the holes where the fluid goes thru is off center and not straight as I wanted
