Wineworks collector / filter - when to replace carbon.

Postby cascas » Wed Aug 22, 2012 4:59 pm

Hi,

I have the new wineworks collector/filter that comes with the airstill (the new type which holds a litre with a solid carbon block below), How often do I need to replace the carbon block. The SS instruction seems to suggest after each bottle, but this seems excessive. What do others do?

If I were you I'd replace it before using it :o

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but those things are pretty useless. I can't understand why they include it with the Airstill when they know that, pretty-much everyone ends up buying or building a proper carbon filter to clean their spirits.

You don't have to break the bank and there are many examples of filter building ingenuity to be found here or you can just go for broke and buy the Essencia Filter after which you can re-fill the carbon filter cartridge yourself for little money. ;)
