best way to rehydrate bakers yeast ?

can i ask what is the best way to rehydrate bakers yeast before adding to the wash ?

warm water ? warm water and sugar ?

bit of a newbie to all this so just thought id ask :)

Hiya buddy. I normally use a pint beaker, add 2tsps of sugar and half fill with 28c water.
I then add my yeast and give a gentle stir then cover and leave for 15 minutes then another stir and add to the fermenter.

Why bother? its so cheap, you can just sprinkle on a load wait 5 mins, and stir it in.

Yep! either method will do the trick. ;)

I personally like to make a 1lt yeast starter with water boiled and cooled to 35oC, 300g sugar and 20g of bakers yeast. I aerate the water with oxygen and store in my hot box overnight where it grows to provide a huge culture to inoculate the wash with ;D

This is much simpler than trying to aerate the entire wash to get the yeast to breed to make the culture big enough for the wash size.

I just sprinkle 1/2 a tin on top of a 25 litre wash, it starts fermenting within 15 minutes and usually has a nice foamy head within two hours.
