I don't mind admitting that in my approaching 60 years of abusing my body, my taste buds have suffered.
Equally, I am still able to appreciate a fine Malt over a blend, even a good one, so do not think that all hope is lost.
My current method of cutting my standard sugar neutral by numbers, and the occasional taste seems to work.
Where I struggle is when I try something a little more "specialised" but it is all for the fun.
Isn't it?

Sure is. Numbers and educated taste buds.

So coming back to the questions asked in the posts above, where are you cutting tails?
I stop collecting from a sugar wash at 30%.
And the tails will have started at around 50% or higher.
