It has seemed hard to find recently.
http://www.geterbrewed.com/chateau-whisky/This is my supplier of the same malt, seems to be a little more costly than yours, but I don't have my conversion head on tonight, so maybe it is close, but your supplier is now stating out of stock.
It is a cracking Malt though.
And comes in a printed sack that is worth turning into a T-shirt,or something.
Win,win!

I have just had an email to say that the quoted delivery charges were in fact incorrect:
------------------------------------------------------------
“Normally 25 kg bags are excluded from the flat fee shipping. This means the shipping cost for your order should be 21,90 € instead of 10,95 €.
There are 3 options:
I cancel the order and refund the total amount.
I send you only one bag (32,95 € + 10,95 € shipping) and refund you one bag (32,95 €).
I send you the two bags, but I need to charge an extra 10,95 € for the shipping.
Could you let me know what you prefer” -------------------------------------------------------------
I will be paying what amounts to about another £8.50 in order to secure the order.
I did actually order 2 x 25kg sacks from the supplier you ,mention Robert, last October. They delivered one and I am still awaiting delivery of the second sack.
Unfortunately, it seems that it is possible to purchase such amounts of UK Peated Malt almost anywhere in the world except the mainland UK.

There are many things we see for sale, that (I'm guessing here) there isn't a market for (or so the sellers believe).
Peated malt is likely one of those. I make a bit of mead and for a few technical reasons, the Fermaid range of nutrients work best, but aren't available. I did manage to sort some via a friend in the Netherlands (who'd got them via Portugal).
Actually, I suspect it'd likely be to do with the whiskey manufacturers "peating" their own malt - whereas on mainland Europe, there's some tradition for beer makers to buy it in for the mega-diverse range of beer types made (often in smaller quantities, so not justifying the expense of this process on-site)........

@ Toper, Are you saying that you ordered and paid for two and they (getherbrewed) shipped one?
Have you spoken to them?
They were most helpful with me,I accidentally did a double order and they contacted me straight away and asked if I had meant to.
They also shipped by parcel force 48, £5.95 for up to 30Kg.
Their price is currently £5.50 better per sack delivered than where you ordered.
Robert.

I ordered and paid for 2 x 25 kg, through their web site, which, at the time, stated stock was available.
However, I had a subsequent telephone call from them, stating only 1 x 25kg was available and, should I like, instead of a refund, they would forward the other when stock was available.
As one can't tell from the web page if it is available or not, as all appears as it did previously, when I first ordered, I have been waiting for them to notify me, or send it.
It was in fact her helpful demeanour which decided me to await new stock rather than take a refund.
They don't appear to have an email facility for customers, so I will try ringing them to find out what is happening.

Two items:
1.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lyles-Black-Tre ... es+treacleTate & Lyle Black Treacle. 7.25 kg @ £9.65 each = approx' £1.33 per kg
This is as cheap as I have seen this in a very long time.
For those with 'Amazon Prime Membership' all carriage on this item is free. For others, orders over £20 are carriage free.
2.
For those who live near a 'THE RANGE Store , you may find that, like my local one, they have an 'in store' offer on 5 gallon fermenting buckets @ £4.99 each. A reduction of about 50% on their normal price.

TVM. Looks like I'll have to pop round to the local one then. You can never have enough fermenting buckets......

Now, that is a truism, the number of times that I seem to wait for something to finish...

Except the local "Range" branch has a pitiful home brew section and didn't have any cheap buckets when we checked yesterday........

You would never say that about stainless fermenters.
I would certainly only buy one and I am still unsure if there is any perceivable quality benefits.

I wonder if this was a local deal. The Range Online is still £9.99

Stainless fermenters are all about pracitcality of use - the material allows for "harder" use and much easier sanitising etc. Hence irrespective of whether the design bought is for smaller home use or industrial type production, they still price them accordingly.
I know of a couple of local beer and cider producers who use 1000 litre IBC's to ferment in, but also a couple of local vineyards/wineries who only use large, stainless fermenters (the beer/cider producers are new and/or smaller businesses - so maybe it's just cost related in their case(s) ).
Home methods/techniques are different despite them being a mirror of the commercial equivalents. Commercial place different values on fermenters, home use is more about convenient size and whether the material "will do the job"...........

Equally feasible. I was intending to check their website but now I won't bother.
It could easily be as you suggest i.e. a local deal, or maybe just one of those "in participating stores" type deals and my local isn't playing..........
Hey ho! worth knowing whatever. At least I could go and check, just in case they were...........
