I just started my second 25 litre batch tonight, I didnt boil it much this time, I took a 100g bag of the frozen kale from my freezer, poured 500ml of boiling water on it and brought it up to the boil in a pan, them put the lot in a blender for a few mins.
Then I strained off the liquid to add to my fermenter with 5kg of sugar, topping up to 25 litres with 28°c water + Alinsons Yeast.
The first batch is at 1.030, not sure if that's good or not, I didn't check the Starting Gravity but it's still going.
Nothing else added, each batch just has Kale Juice, Sugar, Water and Yeast.

Up until this run (testing PH buffers) I have always run just Kale Juice, Sugar, Water and Yeast.

I tend to put them on and forget them. 2 maybe 3 weeks @ 20c. Always finish.
UPDATE: Just checked my last one (with buffers) its still going. Started 9 Feb, so tomorrow is 14 days. Probably won't bother with buffers again.

I admire your patience.LOL.
At 3 weeks I have usually brewed, stripped, spirit run,Essencia filtered and consumed a neutral wash.
One of these days,I may build up a supply and slow down on brew times, but why?

I don't need to rush my ferments through, having been doing this for years I have a supply.
Plenty to drink and better still plenty to give away to friends.
Fermentations deliver the best goods if the yeast are unstressed, at the optimum temp and fed properly.
Once you have a supply everything gets easier.

See, you say that Mash - I did that, then I got into gin, and all of a sudden I find I can't keep up with demand any more! Supply? What supply - all gone! And I pick now to experiment with my stock WWW recipe!
Cheers

"Should I stay or should I go now?"
Should I make more or drink less?
"If I stay there will be trouble"
If I make more it will be double....
LOL
One life,live it.

Yeah I know what you mean about gin. When I started I had 200 litres of seyval white wine getting in the way so that have me a head start.

Stripped my first kale wash last night and now have the second in the boiler ready to go, so far I'm impressed with the cleanness of the strip, I think kale may become the standard for my neutral from now on.
