Sugar Alert - 6/11/10

The local branch of \"Savers\" (the cut price part of superdrug???) has Whithworth brand sugar (so it\'s cane sugar, not beet sugar) for 59 pence a kilo (so I bought 25 kilo\'s).......
Get it while it\'s hot........

They had some 15 x 1kg packs behind the display basket, so I picked up one of those and 10 x 1kg packs loose....
And yes, it does work out cheaper than Poundland, they have 1.5kg packs for Â£1, which works out 66p a kilo.......

Funny dont normally look at the price of sugar, till reading this post.

asda 5kg sugar bags = Â£4.87 (97.4p per kg)

asda 1kg sugar bags = 68p
Makes no sense always thought the more you buy the less the cost, not in this case!!!

I have a friendly corner shop keeps the price at a consistent 79p for me. Super markets occasionally do better offers but my 79p is guaranteed and delivered to the door.

Unfortunately my friendly corner shop went out of business after the post office pulled the plug on her - shame as i would have bought my sugar there, now its a 30 mile round trip or online shop with asda or tescos so thats what i do now.

Depends where you are, as last weekend I went and got a further 30kg of it, but if their offer runs out, then poundland also have sugar for 99p for 1.5kg, so that\'s still 66p a kilo....

That's also a very good price about 53pence a kilo.
It would be zero VAT rated anyway as it's a base ingredient/product.
I\'d be getting as many as I could afford/have room for at that price

Interestingly I worked it out as been cheeper than the 25kg bags that they also do

54.7p / Kg equiv. item number 509497.

Yu\'ll Need an account, or a friends card / number to buy, but cheapest around.

It was in farm foods for 50p/kg but not seen it for a while now !!.
