I'm going to leave a T500 owner to advise on this!

Hi.
IMHO.....If I were you I'd brake it down and look at the price of the individual items..
The 500 Here is £329 free p&p. That's £141 for all the other bits & bobs, Wilko have these buckets for £9.50.
The "Inline Carbon Filter Complete With 2x10 Litre Buckets" there's better ways of doing this...the hydrometers £3/4 off Ebay...

A quick summary....in the Equipment list after the plastic buckets most of it you may already have?? jugs, plastic tube, spoons etc etc.
In the Consumables list, I don't use the turbo yeasts not now..I did when I first started like a lot of folks...but I know better now and stick with bakers yeast. I have used the essence in the past, but after being on the forum since 2013 I've learned a better way of doing things.

The ball is now in your court.... :D there's an old adage " ask 10 people a question, and you'll get 11 answers". ;) all the best with whichever road you take.

Cheers Icefever,

went out a bought the T500 with the copper condenser , was giving various things including a packet of triple distilled turbo yeast , - worth keeping ? and I’ve also bought Allison’s easy bake yeast -is this the right stuff as per the LENTIL WASH RECIPE ?

Thanks again for the replies

Just use normal sugar, 59p a bag in Aldi, brewing sugar is a lot more expensive and you will need more of it!

In a 25 litre wash you can use 6kg of sugar or 7kg of dextrose for the same result, £3.54 vs £14!

It's a no brainier if you ask me

@D4nny74: There are definite advantages to buying a kit that's plug and play. But you pay for that luxury. And after a time certain parts will not be too your taste and you will replace them. Or even worse you will continue to use them.

If money is not an issue, go for it. You can always upgrade if you so desire.

"What sugar to use?". Decide what you want to make. I do not and will not use white sugar. I would suggest though, that you start out with a simple brown sugar wash with bakers yeast. It is all you need to get going and to learn your equipment.

This weekend we released a 300ml bottle of Apple Pie. Many people thought the 750ml bottle was just a bit big at times for ease of carrying, concealing, etc. Has turned out to be very popular and sales of the 750ml bottle have not dropped. Which was a relief.

Today I committed myself to a change of domicile.
I'm only moving 50 yards,a little less in Metres, but it is going to involve much work, and lots of my time.
New still build is on hold, which is a shame.
The plus is that I shall then have a dedicated brew room/store room.
Swings and roundabouts.
Thankfully the days are lengthening here, which seems to make the daily toil seem easier.
And the BBQ days must be just around the corner................
