Wanted T500 anybody selling one?
I am trying to step into the world of distillation but with a budget of £170-£200 does anybody have a T500 for sale?
Im in the uk and desperately hoping to find a T500 in good condition within my price range.
I could get a smart still/Air still but i dont want to buy only to buy a T500 at a later date.
Does anybody know where i can get a T500?
Yeah im a cheapskate
but thats my budget im just hoping for the best.

The other option is to build your own (beer keg mod perhaps?)
Believe me, if there were second hand t500's going about for £170 I would have one.
You can get good prices on second hand air stills to learn on, then upgrade in the future.

Just guessing here but if you are making a corn mash wouldn't you want some of the flavours to come through? The T500 will strip most of the flavour out in delivering the 90%+
If you want significant flavour then you need a pot still and not a column.
Just my 2p worth.

What MrCat said.
If you want to do corn whiskey then a column is not the way to get good results.

Hi Bobnot if i were you i would look for the ss super reflux it should be near your price range and with the mods from this site can perform almost as well as the t500 ie 3.5 ltr @ 93abv from a 14% 25ltr wash in five hours from turn on to turn off and also has the option of running in pot still mode for stripping or allowing flavour to come through with the distillate.
Cheers

Thank you Billmcc that does sound like the best of both worlds and something i will look into.
In the meantime i just took delivery of an Air still today and have just set my first batch off fermenting.
I think i realised i have to slow down a bit and not go charging straight into this buying kit that i dont know how to use properly expecting it to do things it isnt even supposed to do! i have a lot to learn first!!
Thanks for the other replies about the reflux stills stripping out everything leaving more or less just ethanol i should have figured that one out doh!
Now i need to stop staring at this airlock waiting for it to start bubbling because im doing my own head in!!!

Sounds like you're well on the way! Best advice I can give you (or anyone) is probably to concentrate on making the best neutral spirit that you can first of all, because if you can't get neutral to taste, well neutral, you won't be much cop at making flavoured stuff because you won't know enough to keep the right flavours in. You can get decent spirit out of the AirStill despite what some people say - it's a bit of a faff in some ways, but also it's good because if you mess it up at the end of the day you're working with 4l and not 25 or more!
