Build a Sputnik

Hello everyone

I am a new distiller- and keen to make gin with my airstill. I have picked up about the infusion basket and read about the Sputnik but despite looking around the site and putting ' Sputnik' in the search box I have not found any photos or instructions. Could someone please post the link to these? Much appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Sputnik in the search box top right on this page gives me 25 pages of results.
Leg work follows, yours not mine :)
Try going back to the start.

Robert.

It is perhaps so prolific that the original thread is hard to find.

Easiest thing to build. Finding a basket is the tricky bit.

I got a little basket designed to fit (clip) in the lid of the Still Spirits airstill for £6 from my brew shop. They are on evbay and online brew shops. However they dont fit all Air stills. My old one has no nodules (sticky out bits) in the lid to hold it in place, whereas the one I bought last year does.

yup, and they are a bit small - we have thought there is a chance of bunging up the coil.

Whats your thoughts?

Just used it fir the first time today and I’m quite impressed. I added 1/2 the peel from a satsuma. 1/2tsp cardamom seeds. 1tsp coriander seeds. 1tbsp juniper berries and a small wedge of lemon. Hardly filled the tray at all. It stayed in place and the spirit is quite pungent even after watering down. I’ll by giving it a test drive tonight. It smells much more authentic than the little bottles of essence though.

All I use mine for now is impersonating an angry
wife in a small hair net.
Or catching Tadpols in the pond.

1. Its to small to get the amount of bot I want
to do a 2 or 3 ltr run.
2. I have had debris in the condenser which could
cause a blockage and big problems.
I dont think it was a very well thought out addition
to the AS.
Measure the diameter of the As buy a colander that fits
buy some thin rods and make a Sputnik its safer and
bigger and much better, I know made same mistake.
You can always get out of things by paying and this
is not a lot £10??? spent on the bay.

I think the taste test will perhaps get you increasing yours bots and then the problems will start. S'not big enough. But I am biased :D
