stc1000 hack..
If you use an stc1000 for fermentation temperature control you may be interested in this hack to expand the features of the device to include..
NEW Features
* Both Fahrenheit and Celsius versions
* Up to 6 profiles with up to 10 setpoints.
* Each setpoint can be held for 1-999 hours (i.e. up to ~41 days).
* Oversampling and filtering of temperature
* Somewhat intuitive menus for configuring
* Separate delay settings for cooling and heating
* Configurable hysteresis (allowable temp swing)
* User definable alarm when temperature is out of or within range
* Optionally use a second temperature input (fridge air temp) to limit over/undershoot.
* Optionally use approximative linear ramping between setpoints
* Button acceleration, for frustrationless programming by buttons
All the info can be found via http://hackaday.com/2014/03/15/temperat ... e-upgrade/
basically you need the version 1.0 of the stc1000, this hack wont work with ver 1.1
and basic soldering skills to add a 5 pin header or a very steady hand to hold in place during the flash, and ardunio and some wire to connect up.
i took a punt on an ebay stc1000 it arrived this morning and is indeed a version 1

and it is now an upgraded fermentation controller..

Re: stc1000 hack..
This looks interesting. I wonder if you really need the stc1000, Arduinos are powerful little things and I am sure if you can hack these things you could build your own temp controller from scratch. I was thinking of building a web controlled fermentation fridge using one. Why? Because I want to see if I can:)

Re: stc1000 hack..
keep us upto date with your progress.. this is just a simple upgrade for a £15 controller which takes 10 mins to set up and program - no debuggung
(fingers crossed ..) tho u do need an arduino to do it,, im working on my own arduino project at the moment too that however is a much slower job
