Make a stirrer from a length of stainless steel....or one of those paint stirrers from a hardware shop...pop it into a drill and let rip. :D drill an hole in the lid, pass it through into the chuck.. then you can pop the lid on and close it....then let rip.
I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.

Yeah - when they are in the still :)

I do not degas ANYTHING. Never have. Make sure you have copper in the still, preferably coinage and don't over fill it.

I don't degas as such.
I rack a finished wash into a new container, leave it a couple of days and then rack into a still.
The liquid falling from the suspended tubing is all the degassing needed.

I never bothered with degassing when I ran my airstill I just left the wash to clear for a few days then to save time I pre heated the still with hot water then pre heated a runs worth of wash in a kettle to around 50 degrees C poured it into the still and gave it a good stir to release the gas, I know I may of lost some alcohol as well but the saving in time more than made up for it.

A warning though remember that you cannot see alcohol vapour and this is highly flammable so DO NOT get your wash to hot as the potential for a fire caused by any spark when switching the kettle on/off does exist.
