The distillation process itself

distillers conditioner

Postby splifi » Thu Dec 06, 2012 5:02 am

I have just done 3 runs on my new air still and its been a bit of a learning curve but i am getting there after a cock up or two mainly poring my striped spirit down the grid instead of into the stripped spirit bucket :'( (lesson one dont drink your spirit before doing a run).I am now even looking through still designs with the idea of building one in the xmas hols wife permitting lol. This came to to think do i need to put distillers conditioner in my spirit run or just in the stripping run.
thanks

Only in the stripping run, and only if you think the wash is going to foam up. There is nothing in a stripped wash that will foam up. I only use it when I have fermented malt extract or have done a partial or whole grain mash. Butter also works well.

Hum ? fair point, but I'll carry on putting it in both, after all, it stays in the still with the waste.....
