Day 14 for newbie

Oh wow I'm finding so much useful information from this forum for my new hobby. However I've had my first wash fermenting for 13 days so far, yesterday's SG was 996 and today's is 994. Is this normal and should I wait any longer?

I've used still spirits triple yeast and carbon and intend on clearing with turbo clear and distilling with the air still. If this helps.

Check it again tomorrow.

If it is still 994 and there are not loads of bubbles emanating from the wash you are good to clear.

Great thanks for that info. I've made a degassing stick like the one in inventors corner but I do have a hand blender that I see that some people use if I'm right. Which would be best.

I use a mixing paddle in a battery drill seems to work fine

i find triple distilled leaves a lot of bubbles on top which hold carbon

tend to tap the side of bin to help shock them into dropping !

Thanks Toad, when you say mixing paddle I've got one for plaster etc thats not been used is that the type of thing? If so how long should I give it in the wash.

actually meant brewers hand paddle

anything that agitates rather than stis in a drill seems to work and made out of stuff that is food quality
do it untill the bubbles seem to stob building with drill maybe 3 to 5 mins off and on

Many thanks all, stopped I've now had two days at .990 and cleared it the last 24 hours. My first 4 liters are in the still now. It might be a long night tonight.
