Fermentation is slowing a little at end of day 3.

Re: WWW (Wonderful Wheat Wash)
Just checked now @1028 so some to go
yet. Lovely smell of wheat coming off,
and some vigorous fizzing.
Mash, would this make a good Vodka,
fast strip on copperhead then fast run
on T500 . Or turn into J.D. using chips

Re: WWW (Wonderful Wheat Wash)
Quick question Gaza - what does 'invert' mean here? Thanks.

Its just dissolving the sugar in warm water
to make a sugar wash/syrup Seagull. Just
a short way of explaining.

Cheers for that Gaza. Seen the word written before without really knowing what it means.

Re: WWW (Wonderful Wheat Wash)
Be careful Gaza. That could be misleading.
Inverting sugar is not just dissolving it.
You normally heat it in a saucepan with citric acid. The sucrose is converted into glucose and fructose which ferment much easier, increasing the alcohol.

Re: WWW (Wonderful Wheat Wash)
Citric is probably the most readily to hand in kitchen. Some recipes call for inversion, some don't. Whether or not it's worth the exercise I've never determined. I only do it when called for.
I seldom take myself seriously....

The citric acid is used in the conversion. Any left will not negativity affect the mash.

Sorry Gaza, I seem to have swerved this topic off thread a bit. A demonstration of what Robert was talking about in his Off Topic thread.
