Re: sparkolloid group buy
Pretty much agree with AM it cost me about £18 all in to get 16oz sent
At present rate of use should get at least 80 no. 25 litre washes done so great value
Doesn't stick the yeast together as much as turbo clear IMHO so have to watch sediment when filtering

Re: sparkolloid group buy
I am going to try some gelatine finings after my next use of Sparkolloid to see if that will firm up the lees. I sucked up a lot of sediment last time and got some airstill burps that I suspect may have been the result of that.

Re: sparkolloid group buy
Best workaround for that is to make your wash up to include a couple of litres that will be left behind when you rack off after clearing. That way your siphon won't get near the lees.
I found that if you leave the wash a few days after the Sparkolloid is added the lees in a 26lt wash occupy just 1lt at the bottom. Even in my 60lt fermentors I make the wash up to 55lt and rack off just 50lt with an auto siphon.
I'm presuming that you are using a siphon with some sort of cup arrangement at the bottom of the siphon to prevent direct pickup of sediment.
Personally I wouldn't use gelatine because I don't believe it will solve your problem. The real solution is time, patience and a good quality siphon - I know because I used to be a man in a hurry to get the wash into the still

"a man in a hurry to get the wash into the still" Aye, guilty as charged sir!
I am going to try the gelatine simply because I have it and I love to experiment. Your presumption about my siphon is correct. My fermenters and carboys are a couple of litre's short of what I'd like. I will have to tame my desires and leave some back. Ah Patience... I have heard of her.

Been a bit busy with various things, so still hoping.

The supplier provides 25lb packs so I'm not sure it's worthwhile because I don't want to end up stuck with a load of it... if you need it soonish, probably best to get some yourself but I will keep looking into it.

Well going off my usage rate of about 16 batches per 4 oz, 25 Ib should do nearly 400,000 litres of wash ! Even CC would struggle to do that much in a year
Seriously its quite painless to order it from Brewhaus or you could try the stuff Bobnot found which sounds good.

I agree with Admiral Toad its quite painless ordering from Brewhaus. I emailed them and asked as I could only find Express International postage option on the checkout which is quite pricey at $40. They told me to just order that and put a message with the order to post FIRST CLASS and they would refund the difference in the postage. I ordered 4 x 4oz. They promptly refunded the difference in postage cost to my Paypal account. The small box arrived really quickly, only took 6 days to arrive. I put a small test batch on yesterday and it looks very clear already. I've also got a molasses wash clearing with it and its looking good too. Great service, very helpful email communication, quick delivery. I got 4 x 4oz plus postage cost me about £19 all in.

Partly concur, as I haven't actually got round to ordering yet, but I emailed them to clarify (no pun intended) the shipping costs, as they seemed high on the site.
The response was that if I ask for the cheapest shipping possible, they could get it down as low as about $13 if I wasn't in too much of a hurry...... I'm not, obviously.
Yet I'll be checking their site more fully as I need to get some more FermaidK as well, and possibly a few other bits that're hard to find here......
