Me and the Mrs made a load of dishwasher vodka before I got into this distilling lark. Take a bottle of vodka (700ml) and drink 150 to 200ml. The crush up 200g of your favourite sweets and add them to the bottle. Wrap well in cling film and put through a dishwasher cycle with your washing up. Tried it with cola bottles, pear drops and Werthers Originals....all tasted good. Allow the vodka to cool after it comes out of the dishwasher though....hot voddy is foul.

I'm going to try a few sweets with my neutral spirit....parma violets will be the first one.

Anyone else make sweet vodka?

We had a family friend come around the other week with a great big Salmon, she wanted to know if it would fit in our oven, anyway it didn't, the next day we were at her party, (40th wedding) and there was the big Salmon, still in one piece and fully cooked.

When I asked how she cooked it, she said "in the dishwasher" I guess when you think about it....

It works lol

My wife loves peardrop vodka - I've made several bottles for her since starting this great hobby earlier this year. The dishwasher is an interesting angle though - I normally do it by shaking it a lot!

I like the sound of that pear drop vodka.

Since I don't have a dishwasher, do you reckon I could get similar results by putting the vodka and peardrops in a Kilner jar and then warming up the jar in a saucepan of water? Or am I missing something from the process?

I can't see why not....I've never tried it....but when you think about it, the pots, pans and crockery just sit there in a dish washer, there's no spinning like a washing machine.

It's more likely the heat that works with the flavoring.

NO NO NO....not the cupboard again....I'll try it then let you know...honest..

There is a benefit to a cupboard and a surfeit of booze.
And if you haven't seen it yet, try harder.
I dunno what it is,but I manage to make just a little more than I drink..
It would be nice to fill a cupboard,an attic,a cellar.
Summer is coming, and I will drink less (usually do), maybe with some effort will get production up and file some away for future years.

I have a nice little brick out house waiting for any surplus that may happen at sometime. Along with all the "boss" jams & chutneys, it's be manic since Oct last year work wise, so much so we've decided to give up our allotment, which we hope will give us both more time at the weekend....fingers crossed.
