Cheers lads, been after a wee still for a while to give it a go as Whisky is the only drink i have to buy these days. Wine , cider and beers are all taken care of so it was the next step really. All I can say is I'm glad i found this place as the "finished" product by the instructions left a lot to be desired going by the tastes I had while doing the stripping runs. Liking what i've produced on the first run and looking forward to seeing just how far i can get.

I guess you have Jump through a few hoops? How long has it taken?

It’s taken about 3 months , we have the advantage that it is attached to a pub so already have history with HMRC . Currently applying for a full distillers licence , that’s the really tricky one

oh yes. That gets properly complected. Did you get into 'bonding' or don't they bother for a rectifiers ?

With the utmost respect, I would suggest that you leave this site as a "member" and never come back as one.
You say you have gained a rectifiers license from HMRC, and seek a distillation one.
Don't put your business at risk hanging around a site like this.

Personally I suspect that you ARE 1. HMRC, or 2. a journalist looking for a story or 3. just too stupid to be in business.

Feel free to PM me to have all record of you deleted from the site.

It is good to see, that even after reading my above post today, a bunch of regular posters here continued to do so.
I just want to say to ANYONE thinking of becoming a member of this site that Distillation without a license in the UK is illegal.
And You will not gain a license for home distillation.
And someone, somewhere, will log your ISP address if you join this site.
As long as this site is running, I and some other folk will do our best to ensure that you do not make and consume something dangerous, accepting that Ethanol can be.
We welcome new members.
You need to join with your eyes open.

Just joined up, I'm interested in learning about distilling, I brew my own beers from grain and would like to have a go at producing some gin / whisky / rum. I've also got a load of wine that whilst drinkable isn't the best so thought I could maybe turn into something more palatable.

Only want to do small batches and at the moment am favouring an airstill but not against building something from scratch, keep changing my mind as I do more research but definitely after quality rather than quantity.

I've run the idea past my wife who gave me the raised eyebrows thing (here we go again / haven't we got enough alcohol in the house etc) but seems like I've got the go ahead for a new project.

Any further suggestions as to type of still to go for for small experimental type batches?

Welcome aboard. If you ignore the instructions that come with it, the airstill us a cracking tool. So much so that when chaps upgrade they keep it.
