I just got one of these in the post from lyonacre. Its of a very good standard, and excellent value considering the cost of raw materials.
It holds almost exactly 100ml, however with my hydrometer in it when running high proof, this will displace 50ml of that liquid. So 50ml between making cuts should let you make them pretty tight.

Also I\'m going to put a bit of steel wool down the bottom, to prevent breaking the hydrometer (nearly done that already :-)
Also looks like there will be plenty of room for a digital temp probe, in case the output starts to run a bit warm during the run, you can do the reading adjustment.
My only comment is some other parrots I’ve seen for sale leave the beak long for you to cut down to the size you want, for instance when I’m stripping down 50Ltrs I strip it into 1 gallon demijions. With the beak at the shorter length, I need to use a funnel in the demi-john, hadn’t thought of that until now, its no bigy, just something to consider.

Hi Capt!

Just a quick comment -- you say you are going to use steel-wool to prevent damage to the hydrometer. Stainless steel would be OK or even cotton-wool. Not sure about bog-standard steel-wool though?

Regards, Ronbo.

Thanks for that Ronbo. I should have been clearer in my post. I have some 100% stainless steel packing that I have been trying out, I also have some copper mesh too that I could use if that dosn\'t work out.

I\'m very careful with anything I use in the vapor path, or in contact with high proof.

Hi ive just built one of these... whats the best way to give it a good initial clean and also what is safe to polish it with? Would a clean in a vinegar solution be a good idea?

We don't believe you - we need pictures

Edit; Just read that again - it does not sound nice. Sorry, of course we believe you - but we still need pictures - we like them.
