I've used standard Alcotec yeast for years now always been happy with the results steady ferment in about 14 days on 7 kg per 25 litre
Saw some Alcotec 48 hrs on special so decided to give it a go
Ready in 6 days down to 980 and pretty clean and after usual 2 runs through the the bubble column and a light filter expert taster decreed it smoother than standard so well happy

Always happy to hear of an experienced users' experience of a Turbo to be positive.
I don't use them anymore, I found a time/cost/quality alternative.
But I dislike the jumping on the bandwagon, general slagging off that Turbos get, from people that don't know their arse from their elbow, that learned their wisdom second hand.
Turbo's don't rule

I think it is also about the balance between the wash, still and the operator.

A potstill will pass through a lot more flavour (good or bad) than a bubble column.

A good hand can make a better job of any wash.

I use Alcotec 48, a single pack in a 50l wash with 10Kg sugar and a couple of scoops of malt.
I pitch cool sub 20oC else the temps run away, set the heater to 25oC and it's nice and steady.

The packs are about £2.50 each if you buy a box of 13, 33 quid for yeast to do 650l of wash seems a small out lay for the hassle free aspect.

If you're into regrowing yeast, I get it, I do that with my rum, but for a neutral sugar wash, I just cant get that excited about it

How you get there, cost and effort, filtering >:D even.
It is only important that you do.
In a way that suits you.

I've always done 7 kg sugar per 25 litres and I've now got a 120 litre fermenter so do 100 litres at a time
Captain do you reckon I might get away with 2 packs of alcotec 48 ? I'm sure the yeast should breed happily

@ AT, What you suggest seems reasonable to me.
Have not tried it at that volume, but from my experience can't see why it would not scale up.

The yeast will. Yes.
I have done 350 on 10g.

However Alcotec also has a nutrient blend. I am not sure if that will stretch or not. On the face of it not.

Give it a go, keep some Tronozymol handy and if you smell rotten eggs lob some in.

It's one substance that I've rightly or wrongly blamed for imparting unwelcome tastes.

Absolutely right to blame it.
It does impart a flavour, which is now recognised in modern oenology.
As does sugar beet sugar, as opposed to cane. I have tested and proved both.

It is a blend which contains diammonium phosphate (DAP) as one of its main ingredients.

It is not a problem if used gently as a corrective measure and will filter out.

Better to get your nutritional requirements elsewhere.

Good idea. I think might buy a spinning wheel and take up knitting.

Not as appealing to me as making your own hooch.
