Hi Guys
I'm thinking of running a 50litre wash with 10kgs of sugar and only one packet of vodka star, will this be enough vodka star?
I also plan not to heat the fermenter for the first few days as I think it won't need it but does anyone have any experience with this size of wash and if there's a possibility it could get too hot for the little yeasties?

I have successfully split a pack of Alcotec48 into 3 separate batches for 3 25l carboys and all worked well with no heating at all. It does take a bit longer though, which suited me. As it happened I left it over a month before distilling and all went well.

Second thought I'm not gonna bother with a 50litre sugar wash, I have quite a few KG's of grain from my home brew, I've got 4KG of Pilsner malt, a few KG's of marris otter, a bucket full of odd bits like crystal, dark, chocolate, rye malt and some adjuncts like flaked corn maize.
The plan for the weekend is to mash as much of the stuff that I can, then add sugar and 500gm of soaked lentils to make up a 50litre batch at around 1.090
I'll also use Alinsons bread yeast, it'll be an all grain lentil wash hybrid!!
I'll post pics on as I go, nothing like experimenting on a large scale >:D

An all grain mash does not need lentils for nutrition. That is just for a nutrient deficient sugar wash.
