Is it me?? I now have an adverts bar at the top of the page. I know adverts help to keep a site up & running , and one can hit the close button....but it does seem like a new thing to me....just wondering that's all. ;D

I haven't got it mate.
Is it due to your browser?

It's actually under the gray bar "board index..user control" bit so that makes me think it's been added to the site...also it's linked to Google. ::)

I thought maybe Jimmy had done it, I know on a lot of forums they allow ads to help pay their way.

I use Firefox, never had problems before and I've only seen them from the beginning of this week...strange ???

I've found an add-on within Firefox, a blocker that seems to have stopped them for me at the moment. ;)

If anyone is using Google Chrome just goto settings / Extensions / get more extensions and type in the search box ABP then choose "Adblock Plus" and click "Add to Chrome".

It will then show as a red icon next to the settings icon. I installed it 2 months ago and as to date has blocked 53,619 adverts.

I have always seen one advert banner at the top of every page, it doesn't bother me and I figured that was just normal.

That's using Macs or my iPad and running Safari.

It pisses me off on some other sites when the advert is specifically targeted to something I have recently searched for.

Funny you should say that about targeted advertising, I use my iPhone 99% of the time in here and often the advert bar at the top is advertising something I've looked at recently or searched on my phone,

On here it usually seems random, although at the moment it's offering me Google Chromecast for £30, which VT was just commenting on.

On other sites I have been offered products which I have only just Googled or searched through eBay or on Screwfix.

I have used adblocker plus on fire fox for the last few years,I can't fault it.
I recently saw someone else's screen and all the animated adverts on their homepage.
I couldn't live with that, and would have to climb back up into the trees or get back into the primordevial soup.

It's not just me then, I've always run an add blocker can't stand them. Some sites I visit they tell me to turn the blocker off....they've got no chance. :D

The adverts on the tv they wind us up...this is the reason we record most of what we wish to watch....I fast forward over them :D :D
