I done 3 x 25L washes over a few weeks, stripped them all, then diluted everything i had collected from them to 35%,filled my boiler with that and done the spirit run.
Im guessing i may have been able to get more out of it but with my still that was not to bad.
I may do a run of these every 6 months or so,in between if need be will just put on a SS triple.

Good work guys! Incidentally, I\'ve used those wine finings from Wilkinsons and they worked exactly like Turbo Klar, I suspect they are identical.

Going to have a go at a tomato wash, have all the ingredients except epson salts. Would effervescent health salts -- which contain 17.4% epson salts -- be OK, or would that be a big NO-NO?

Was bit suprised myself, not even the nationwide \'Boots\' chemist sell it any more. Can get it on line by the Kilo, but you only need a teaspoon. Lots of places sell it as bath salts, but that is not B.P. grade for internal use, if you see what I mean.

Hi Mark, tried all the local Supermarkets and chemists, problem is they don\'t have the pure product, only health salts.
BOR looks like he has the solution, thanks mate, I will have to make a special journey to the nearest Asda (there are none local). I presume they sell it as Epson Salt crystals.

That last post should have acknowledged foRUM Not BOR, sorry mate.
Well, got the tomato wash going and since it is the first time I have tried, thought I would see how the yeast was getting on under the microscope. Took a tiny sample from the bucket and prepared a drop on a well-slide. Had a look at 400x and was suprised to see quite a few yeast cells moving around. This doesn\'t happen unless something is propelling them. Had a closer look and realised that there were more things in the sample chasing each other round than I have seen since the last \'Grand National\' horse race.
The only things different were the bread yeast and the tomato paste. I didn\'t think the yeast was the problem, so dug one of the empty cans of paste out and prepared a dilution of the dregs for the well-slide. Yep! sure enough, full of little critters.
Maybe I have been unlucky, but I\'m glad I used boiling water to mix the nutrients and paste before I pitched the yeast -- God knows what it would have been like if I hadn\'t.
I\'ll let it go on fermenting and see what happens! Mean-time I,m preparing a slide for a special test called the \'Gram Stain test\' which will be complete later tonight.
Will let you know how it goes.
Ronbo.

it shouldnt be a problem ronbo.
When i mix this up i use 10L of boiling water from the jug to help dissolve the sugar, then the tomato paste etc is added.would be far from boiling once all that is added.and never had a prob.should ferment out nicely in 5 days.
cant wait to hear your results.

This is one of the critters I found in the Tomato Puree -- Gram Positive -- Plus lots of \'Cocci\' and \'Bacilli\' -- Negative and Positive.
Make sure the Tomato is put into Boiling water.
