Quick question.
I tried southern comfort and lemonade the other day and quite liked it.
Took the plunge and bought a bottle of ss southern haze.
Now my question.
Should I oak my spirit before adding this Essence?
Also is it any good?

Hi Corps012588 it makes a nice drop but its over sweet if you use 280ml of sugar as per instructions for my personal taste i only add 150 ml to 2.25 ltr spirit

Thank you buddy. I made it using unoaked spirit.
I thought that 250g sugar sounded a little sickly so I just used 150g
It smells lovely but am going to leave well alone for a week to infuse properly.
My favourite so far is the Tennessee whiskey by ss.
I've got the American bourbon one to try now too as I have 12ltrs of the Tennessee!!!!
Such an addictive hobby!

Hi all,
Newbie here.
I made some Sth Haze with some oaked spirit.
In my haste I didn't read the directions properly and used 40% spirit and didn't add sugar!!!
I tried it and it was VERY spirited.. who knew!
Tried it with Coke and was great, however, very little resemblence to Sth Comf...
Today, I added sugar to my brew and now it smells a fair bit more like it should.
I will give it a week to steep properly and send some feedback.

I did a nice southern discomfort with nuked Jacky D chips and honey and vanilla. Smooooooooooooth

Honey and vanilla....go well together...wonder how it would work with a light rum???

Honey and vanilla are pretty much my favourite booze flavours. I add a drop of vanilla to everything including vodka and a spoonful of honey to most things except vodka.

For a light rum I'm tempted next time to try a little orange rind and cinnamon and/or ginger as well as honey and vanilla. I'm hoping for something less sickly than Captain Morgan. I might need to leave the honey or glycerin out at the start. Southern comfort is a vanilla and orange flavour also?

I liked the essencia kentucky bourbon flavouring both with and without honey. It's the only one I've tried so far. I fancy the southern haze and have been asked to make a gin for which I was looking at the bombay sapphire type?

Peach is also a component of Southern.
