Re: still heater
Electrics cycle on and off so you probably want a thick metal plate under the still to even out the heat. I don't fancy gas heating myself.

Re: still heater
i was thinking of something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280587568125? ... 1423.l2649
with a diffuser as I don't really wanna use my hob or gas outside as I don't fancy getting blown up knowing my luck it would happen my still is only 10lires so it shouldn't be to big or heavy for it

I will also be using a stainless converter disc as you cant use copper on an induction hob do many people use the type of still that is above?

Re: still heater
Here are a couple if reviews which may be of interest, http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews ... ewpoints=1
One of the reviews goes into detail with regard to the lower power settings not being very smooth.
I would not recomend this type of hob for a column as they are not very stable, similarly I think a 25 litre pot still would be a bit wobbly. However for a 10 litre Pot still using the power control option it may well be usable.

Re: still heater
I think I might just use my gas hob at home instead of mucking about trying to find one of these atleast its already there to use just need to seal it right and I shouldn't have any problems cheers for the input

Re: still heater
could anyone give me a little advice on what route is best to go as I don't wanna mess about buying hotplates that are gonna break and wont do the job and using my gas hob is a little risky using gas indoors has anyone got an idea as to what I can do with a still like the one above its 10litre capacity
