I'm just repeating what a HomeBrew shop bloke told me this week.

He runs one of those brew your own beer on the premises places.
I was talking to him about activated carbon and he pointed out the large plastic filters on his wall. He said he asked the installers about fitting filters made from Stainless Steel. Apparently they said they dont supply stainless steel filters as the carbon once activated attacks the steel.
I told him I had an airstill and he suggested not putting carbon in the wash so the wash doesnt damage the still.
I'm not a scientist so I cant really comment, anyone hear of this or can you comment on it?

Me neither, bit scary, when things erode and corrode the material has to go somewhere, and in this case it’s our bellies.
Never liked the carbon washes anyway, bastards to clear.
On another totally unrelated issue, my smart Roadster had a re-map the other day - brabus 101 BHP map, not as fast as the one I had on - but is much smoother.
