It is highly efficient and I'm sure you'll get a bump to over 95%,

But you need to run slower than the t500 allows, SPP is very prone to flooding, so you'll most likely need a power controller to bring the t500 down to about 1400w.

You'll have to let us know how you get on with it, you might not increase your ABV by anything noticeable due to the limited size of the T500, but even if that’s the case I would expect an improvement in product quality worthy of your investment. :)

I'll be amazed if you don't get a very noticable bump, I've tried running a very short VM to try and get a lower ABV for white rum, and fount if difficult to shift off of 95.6%.

What is a copper app?

Copper is as tuff as anything we need in stilling.
It may do it's job and catch a few Sulphur particles.
You could then "wash" in something like Citric acid.
As long as you have Copper in there, all should be good.
Wishing you well with it.
Robert.

I was gently ribbing you there, in case you hadn't noticed.
Do let me know what you meant to convey in your last couple of posts.
Maybe just a typo?
And seriously wishing you well. :)

Your SPP looks just like mine, I got mine from Poland, which I think is where yours was made, I know what you mean about fragile!

I’ve lost count of how many bits I’ve accedentaly squashed!!!

I’ve never used my copper ones, my worry was my OCD and having to separate them from the main batch once they’re all got mixed up lol

I would have said use some of the SS saddles at the bottom, then all SPP on top but then I remembered you have to fill your column from the bottom so not sure if that’s possible.

Good luck, I look forward to hearing how you get on

So in a nutshell what you’ve done is packed copper spirals around the coil at the top? In other words that’s the difference over the standard t500 column fillings.? I’m struggling to understand what you’re trying to achieve

Where did you get the controller from ....looks like a good find. (I’m still waiting for delivery from China for mine (ordered in Beginning of November) I think I can write that off now

Have you used this yet ?
I read this as being for inductive loads (motors etc) not resistive loads (heating elements) ?

I really didn't need another power controller.
But this one looked good.
Something else to fit in the "Man Draw(er)"
I'll play with it one day. ;D
