Grainfather boiler or T500 boiler for stripping run

Postby Seagull » Mon Mar 21, 2016 5:03 pm

From what I've read, it seems that stripping runs should be run hard and fast.

I'm intending to use the Still Spirits supplied copper dome and condenser for the stripping run.

Would this be best attached to the Grainfather boiler for more temperature control. Or is that missing the point and I might as well just hook it up to the standard T500 boiler (cheaper to replace if I ruin it).

Thanks

Stripping run is just a basic run to separate out the bulk of the water from the alcohols.

To start with you probably won't do anything sophisticated. Just run it as fast as you can without it foaming up or puking.

Collect about 35% by volume of your wash and you will probably be fine.

Whatever you collect gets diluted and then run again with more care.

Thanks Myles. I think I'll run the T500 boiler hard for the strip then to preserve the Grainfather
