Re: ebay find
Good find Bill and free postage too
.
Of course you'd need a thermowell fitted to put it in a column.

Hi Aidan on the still spirits and the essencia still the probe just fits through a bung at the top of the column this may also be good for the top probe on the t500 but i am not sure of the probe size

Re: ebay find
I bought one of these a year or so ago. They are not very robust.
They appeared to be part of something, As if they should have been fitted to a contrl panel, therefore they are just clipped together. My one worked well, but not for very long, one of the wires broke off. i re soldered it back, but it was difficult to get the case back tgether, it did work but the case kept openning rendering it useless. So they work well, but I wouldnt buy another one.

Re: ebay find
Just recieved mine and i am delighted what a bargain last one cost me three time the price, yes norm it does look like it should fit in a panal and the probe was a little narrow for the bung so i used some silicone to make it air tight.lets see how long it lasts(fingers crossed)

That's a still spirits super reflux. Very good price for a wunner.......
Just for the convenience of the boiler would make it eminently convertable......
Shame its so far north.......

Re: ebay find
Looks like an original "StillSpirits Super Reflux".
Worked OK when I had one, but I couldn't manage to get the damn thing produce above 85% ABV.
But, if cheap, it'd be fine to convert to a better reflux column.......

Well dunno what packing that'd be Bill. I tried proper rashig rings, copper mesh, etc. The only stuff I didn't try was SPP.
I did all the split water supplies and power controller etc etc.
The best I got was 86% ABV.......
I became convinced that there wasn't enough height of packing and the reflux band wasn't wide enough.
Ergo my above comment......
Did you do something different ?
