Perhaps try the Kale recipe next time. I prefer the finshed spirit to that from the Lentils (was not too impressed)

I have one more pack of lentils to use then I might give the kale a go

OK here when I say Lentil wash, for me it is Yellow Split Pea and Raisins.
I heat them, and hit them with a stick blender, not to a flour consistency, but to a quarterish size piece, big enough for the chickens to peckup.
But yes, watch your Ph,and cheap litmus strips could prove a better friend than a cheapo electronic meter.
I have walked that mile................

As far as we know 0127frey...no...you have to go with what you've got. ;)

I know of no difference between the two yeast varieties, other than cost and the fact that my local Tesco have stopped selling the cheaper regular version.
That big online retailer came through with the regular stuff, at the same price delivered.
I have 45 x 125g tins now.
The way I use it that is 1300 litres of wash.
Should keep me going awhile. ;)

I'd have to check the fridge to see which tub I have at present. One of my braincells thinks the green easybake is a bit slower so nicer. The other is not convinced.

??? I have had a go at this Lentil Wash Recipe for the first time but i have run into a problem with the Temp, the Heater that i have will only keep the Wash at a Temp between 21c and 23c (Depending on outside Temp),might this be a problem, well it has been 11 days now since i added the Yeast and it still seems to be Fermenting, the lid on the Bucket is still ballooning up.

Yes, that does seem like a while.
During the busy phase, the Yeasties warm themselves.
23C is a little low for Allinsons, but if it is still fizzing all is not lost.
Maybe plan a different heat source for the next one? Especially as it is getting frigging cold :)

Pateince - yeasties don't have a watches and certainly do not fancy the inside of your still!

It will get there, providing it is still working and not stuck. Sniff it, taste it, test it.

It is said a busy winemaker makes the best wine - I am sure the same applies to washes.

Maybe wrap a blanket, quilt or sleeping bag around your fermenter?
Sorry if that is too bleeding obvious :)

I was under the impression that a nutrient like lentils or corn need an enzyme to release the sugars that the yeast feed on. The yeast don't eat the lentils, right? Just sugar.

I don't know.
