Hi & welcome....it looks ok, it's about £20 below RRP...maybe he's picked up a "job lot" and passing it on to the the public ??

I started off with an airstill years back, still have it and use it every now & then..if that's what you want, go for it.

If you want to be sure, buy from one of the HB shops online, some do kits for around £155/£160...maybe get more bangs for your bucks??

That doesn't look like the genuine article to me, too shiny, strange plastic receiving jug, and what's the black lump on the lower left hand side of the pictures?

Yeah, that looks like a knock-off to me. The one I have seen here is made by MegaHome, based out of Taiwan. It is robustly built and replacement parts are available.

I haven't got a problem with knock-off gear as such, but I would want to know that unit's wattage before I bought.

The genuine Still Spirits air still and other products may have been designed in New Zealand, might even be assembled there, but the components sure as hell aren't made there.

Just my viewpoint.
This is a bargain price for an air still.
Some sellers include all sorts of rubbish that you don't need in their Smart/Airstill "packages", making them nearer the £180 mark.
The still looks exactly like the one that I bought a few years ago.
The jug is different to the one supplied with mine, but is plastic, and you may learn to collect in glass anyway.
The seller has a shop on the bay with over 4,000 feedbacks,99.9% positive, and as you will know, if you ever tried to sell there, there is always someone that is dis-satisfied.

I will nail my colours to the mast, and recommend buying it.
If you have any problem with it, please contact me, on the board or via pm and I promise to help.

In the meantime start yourself a wash or two, Turbo, lentil or something.
And go to the first page of this thread and read everything.
There is time to have you enjoying your own product by xmas.

theres a couple of things that you should invest summat better,ditch the collection
vessel and invest in a decent carbon filtering vessel,but it should do while you get
one,and the other to ditch is Triple Distilled Yeast & Turbo Carbon,look into doing

I think it's ok. If it isn't the risk is just the return postage.

I wouldn't buy anything else yet until you have had a go.

Turbo's need a carbon filter. Naturals don't.

Good natural recipes make clean washes save you having to filter.

What you do need is some small change.... Really 1p & 2p. A good handful which are not magnetic.
Apart from that you are good to go.

And IMHO any pot or air stilled neutral benefits from carbon filtering.

I am with Robert on the filtering. It may be required for a turbo, but IMO if you are looking for neutral, it is better after carbon filtering.

Agree that carbon filtering does make it more neutral. Cleaner.

Suppose I get it neutral enough without. Different folks different bicycles.
