Perhaps there are some lessons learnt. I like to do something "as per" and then perfect a simpler route.

We underestimate how much heavy lifting yeast will do if given time.

Definately lessons learned
Next time I would pluck all the grapes from the stems before squishing, it would save an awful lot of mucking about afterwards and they would be easier to squish with the press.
I would also take all the bunches.from the vine..I left the ones that had one or two rotting ones on the bunch, when ac5ually that wouldn’t have mattered at all. In fact it would probably help?
Also I would do 3 ferments...one with just the juice, one with the skins and pips and then another with skins and some added sugar before adding all 3 together and distilling

You need a milk crate

Crush whole. Use the milk crate as a sieve. Stunningly good for removing stalkes.

Small milk bottles in your neck of the woods? or just a different crate design?
Brussel Sprout stalks would escape a Scottish Milk crate ;D

Depending on the crate you can push them through the bottom and then crush. Or crush and pour through the inside.

You can also fit the crate into a dishwasher before you start..... Providing swmbo has gone shopping.

Never tried it with brussels. Works really well with grapes though.

There are crates, and then there are obviously other crates. ;D
