I thought Watneys Beer was likened to
"love in a punt". Very close to 'kin water

I have vague memories of the taste of Watney's from my long ago teen years.

Same here but not a pleasant one.

Many years ago the Daily Mirror newspaper did a survey of British beers.

Watney's Red Barrel came at the very bottom. Though widely marketed, with the slogan, 'The Red Revolution's Here', it was so weak it could almost have been sold from sweet shops.

It never recovered from this exposé.
