Hi All
I'm new at this but here we go. My T500 still has always been running great but I had to replace the water temperature thermometer on the T500 still the probe use to be plastic but the new ones are steel and looked like they have been squashed in the middle. I have installed the probe but it seems to be sucking in air and not fitting properly and the last wash I tried to do took me over 11 hours and I'm not even sure if it was giving me the correct temperature. I usually get 3.5 litres out of each run but this time I was lucky to get 2 Litres
I havent checked the alcohol reading as yet as I was to peed off at the time. I'm not getting much help from the brew shop guy only to run the water temp between 55-65 which I had been doing. It use to work fine but now I need help from anybody who else has had this problem. Any feedback would be great

Cheers

Hi,

Welcome to the forum, but sorry that you are have a couple of problems.

I do not have a T500 but I have seen a few posts where people have had problems sealing the thermometers and the general solution seems to have simply been to take the thermometer out, wrap it with PTFE (Teflon) tape and put it back.

I am sure someone with actual experience with a T500 will be along shortly. In the meantime I hope you enjoy your stay.

Thank you Brian

I appreciate your prompt reply, I will give that a go and see if it helps. I wish I was in the UK but I am stuck in my lounge room in good ole Aussie land.

Cheers

Another method for stopping leaks is to use a flour and water paste.

I have a T500 and my temp probe (late model so only have 1 on the water outlet)does sit not tight or loose, it can be easily lifted and if you do it just gurgles a bit, does yours have 1 or 2 thermometers ??

Air coming into mine on the water outlet would not really cause any improper operation as its only reading the temp of the water leaving the whole system, fair enough though it may be out very slightly.

With the water leaving at 55-60 degrees have you thought about using some bluetack to hold it and seal??
