Essencia stone filter mould

Postby Distillingchris » Thu Mar 23, 2017 2:19 pm

So Ive been really busy recently and probably not used my filter for over 6months, came to it the other week the stone has mould on it, surely this is not unusable even if cleaned ? I thought the alcohol that would of stayed within the stone would of stopped this but obviously not, I presume you can just buy a new stone ? Or would you clean and use ?, thanks

If you are talking about the ceramic dome filter, the surface is 10mm thick and is easily cleaned with a toothbrush.
Always give the hardest job to the laziest person because they will always find the easiest way to do it.

Yup, dump the the MF in some domestic bleach, give a scrub and good rinse, back in buisiness.

Ahh right I just didn't want any to be inside after cleaning the surface ? So clean it ? Maybe let bleach and water run through it ? Then let just water run through ? Bit paranoid when it comes to chemicals don't want it to ruin alcohol or even better me haha

If'n you want to be really safe, sacrifice some high strength alcohol to scrub it with. that will work.
To stop it going green over an extended period, it needs to be sitting in alcohol.
