Proofing

Postby Distillingchris » Sun Aug 25, 2013 11:11 am

Hi, if anyone could work this out quickly so I can proof it down

I had 200ml 55%
700ml 67%
1000ml 62%

Have mixed all these together and wondering what I now have and how much water to add to get down to 50%, then 45% then finally 40%

Thanks

What do you use to get the abv as it stands mixed now, adding all 3 together, then I can just go off the current abv to add the water, thanks

As you've already mixed them you need to add 498ml of water to bring the combined volume to 50% - your first target ABV - bringing your total volume to 2398ml

To get that down to 45% you will need to add a further 266ml bringing the total volume to 2664ml

To get to 40% you will need to add a further 333ml making a final volume of 2997ml.

Hope this helps ;)

To calculate what you have now is just equation's.

Add all your different volumes altogether, this gives a total of 1900ml.

To work out the combined abv;

200/1900x55% plus 700/1900x67% plus 1000/1900x62%

To work out the water required;

(Current abv/Target abv x Volume)- Volume

Hope this helps so you are not website dependant.

I use this one for calculating the amount of water to be added.

((Current %ABV \ Target %ABV)-1) X Original Volume

Either will do ;D
