Hi mate if you make a good clean wash its not required especially with your reflux still, try a vodka star or essencia super 6 wash without carbon and still spirits tripple with carbon and let us know what you think.

Re: turbo carbon use or not
When I started a couple of years back with an Airstill I did use the carbon as per the paperwork that came with it.
Then I found this forum and WOW....what an eye opener...so now it's a BIG NO from me.
Mix a sugar wash let it finish then do a double distill...follow AM's writeup on this and you will turn out some good stuff.
BJ.

Take a look here and read it all
Link
Read the "PDF" file AM has done.
The best advise I can give Haziflad is to start at the top of the posts and work you way through them...then re-read them again and it all starts to make sense mate.

Well,I was about to offer a package of alcotech Triple still, foc to anyone that wished to pay the post, but now see it is well out of date,so I guess that shows my views on tipping carbon into your fermenter!
