Re: Started a new wash.
It's a home built pot still Seagull, with a 54mm x 24" column, running into a liebig about 30" long, consisting of a 15mm tube going through a 28mm tube. My boiler holds a max of about 4 gallons, so I load it with about 3 gallons at a time, which is why I ferment in 6 gallon batches, (hark at me, sounding like a seasoned 'stiller, only on my third run
!!)
As to the question of running it through twice.....well, yesterday I ran the second 3gallon batch, and threw in, half a gallon of corn wash that I had sitting around, and about half a litre of the day befores tails, if you can follow that? I know that isn't what you meant, but I thought I'd include it for interests sake!
Anyway, as to doing a proper stripping/spirit run....I'm not really inclined to yet....and I'm not really sure as to why, maybe it's the extra cost/work of stripping the still down and having to reheat it all again...or perhaps I'm wary of losing what little flavour I have to start with, or a combination of all of the above....dunno, maybe one day.....
