Hi Michael and anyone else with answers !

Looking at your 2"- 4" - 2" torpedo bubble section as below

https://www.stilldragon.eu/en/torpedos/ ... o-sgk.html

How easy would this be to incorporate into a T500 between the boiler and the column without chopping bits off etc ?

It would be a nice affordable upgrade with future variations I would think without going for much bigger 4" etc kit

Hi AT,
you would need to get a 2" ferule welded to the bottom of your column, but with that and the connector shown earlier and a couple of tri clamps you would be good to go.

Robert.
There is no ONE way.

Indeed, Admiral Toad, what Robert said, that should be an easy upgrade.

Interesting to see that such T500 is that popular, especially in the UK and AU as it seems. As mentioned before I've never seen one here in Austria. There are some really great offers for hot wine punch cookers around which look pretty similar to a T500 except the lid. I've recently inspected such a cooker but it wasn't suitable for our purposes because the lid being way too thin, with some stupid plastic handles or knobs in the way, and additional holes in the lid to prevent pressure build-up.

Admiral,

From memory the adapters shown here are bsp threads so I think you will be able to mate the T500 up to them without welding.

Yes, Brian, the 2" TC Weldless Adapter would be the connection for the T500 lid, then the torpedo, but as far as I have understood there is a column involved to be put above the torpedo which does not feature a tri-clamp ferrule, so yes, in that case a 2" ferrule has to be welded to the bottom of that column to make it attach to the torpedo.

Hi Brian

You are correct they are 2" BSP

Michael
if the adapter you show in the earlier reply is the same then one could fix to the lid with its 'nut' and presumably another one could be screwed directly into the female 2"BSP on the T500 column base allowing the torpedo to be used with 2" triclamps and avoiding welding adapter on ??

Then it would only need something simple made up out of copper or stainless plate to keep the ceramic scrubbers in place up the column

I can't tell if it will be possible to screw the adapter into that column, because we don't have the adapter in stock yet, and from what we know it's a 48 mm male pipe thread. What's the inner diameter of that column?

I might be mistaken but I thought the thread size for the T500 connection was 1 1/2 inch BSP!

EDIT
Just done a quick Google and a 1 1/2 inch bsp thread has an outside diameter of 47.803mm, so you need a 2" tri clamp ferrel with a 1 1/2" bsp thread to screw directly into the bottom of the T500 column.

Well, so there are good chances that the 2" TC Weldless Adapter can be screwed directly into that column, but welding on a 2" tri-clamp ferrule will be cheaper of course if you can do the welding yourself. On the other hand it may be of advantage to leave the column thread untampered if you want to sell the T500 together with just the column later on.

Here's one on eBay, it's on the slow boat from China and the advertised thread size is not BSP but the description says to let them know and they will send the BSP version.

Cheers Anvirin

I've just put my digital calliper on the T500 column base nut and it's measuring 47.2mm so allowing for wear and tear and tolerances and backed up by a thread count of 5no in 12mm it does look like 1 1/2" BSP so Michael looking good for your adapters ?

or if not the supplier from Chinaland
