Stretching the essences
Hiya guys.
Has anyone tried stretching the ss classic essences?
I'm just wondering as I quite like the sour mash one they do but it's getting a bit expensive now
As I'm using so much. I have been filling demijohns with 4ltrs of neutral aged on Jd chunks
And then putting 4 sachets in as they do 1ltr supposedly.
Any comments please?

Hi mate imho if you soak on oak for three to four week you can get away with half that amount.

Cheers buddy. I'm thinking of trying just 2 sachets in 4ltrs that's exactly the kind of answer I was after.

Have you tried the bottles rather than the sachet? that would save more I guess.
I thought that using the chunks meant you didn't need the essences anyway?

I've only ever managed to age on the chips for 10 days as I'm scared of spoiling it.
Aidan once told me it wouldn't spoil but it still worries me!
Not sure how long it would continue to improve if left on the Jd chips or wether it's
Just a short time till the spirit has drawn out all the remnants from the chips.
