What equipment do you use??

I'm curious just what "equipment" we have out in the land of stilling.....how many Airstill/T500 are there.

I've thought about the list for some time, I've tried to cover most set-ups...you have 7 votes so you should be able to list all of your kit.

Like I said..I tried to cover most bases....I don't think many of us freeze at the moment Mash..but you still have to use your Airstill.. :)

If none of the above Pack...what do you still with???

Amphora PDA-1. On an undersink hot-water boiler.
I'm very into copper ;D

My choice of still, unheard of probably to most of you, flies well under the radar on most distilling boards. Amphora have been around for a long time, certainly longer then I think all of the more readily recognised still providers, yet must be doing something right as they keep right on keeping on in the market place.

Given that I swallowed the HD dictum right at the start of 'no turdbos', I've avoided going the filter, of any description, route. The HD dictum also scoffed at airstills, but not knowing exactly what an airstill was, I filed that away for further consideration. I now know a bit more and see it as a most handy piece of kit. If I didn't consider the damned things were overpriced, I reckon I'd have one. Operational ease is the thing here....

But back to the PDA-1. It's primarily a reflux still, but can be detuned to operate as a pot still.
Either way, the output on any initial run, has always rendered up a completely usable spirit. By that I mean something fit to drink. Second and third runs always give improvement, but a quick and dirty strip run - and I ALWAYS cut, even on stripping - generally does it for me. ;D

I have just cast four votes, I think that covers me, I looked for Air,Air, & Air :)

Thanks for the description Packs, I have always felt myself too busy to go off and Google Amphora PDA-1.

That's quite understandable Robert.
I put it up as I think it would open a few eyes on investigation....

For sure, there are many ways to dream up variations upon an existing still type, I have looked at lots, and admire the ingenuity of their devisers and builders.
At the end of the day, they all do the same thing. OR AT LEAST SHOULD
And some have been quietly doing the thing that they were built for, for years.
Some are faster, some slower. And some may be made of Ticky Tacky,- but they all work just the same.
Concentrating clean, or deliberately flavoured Ethanol.
I know that Ice enjoys the wide variety of stills in use, and while currently building a new Ice-bot of his dreams, he is not a "mine is bigger/better than yours" kind of guy.
Myself, I am working upon a still that uses 3 polystyrene cups, four drinking straws and a deck of playing cards, not because I think it will produce good product, but because all components should be available whilst detained at HMP. ;D

Here I sit enjoying the first cuppa of the day......I got to the part about my column...Ice-bot for it's name...yeee ;) I think that'll work.

Then I start on the last part, about your new build.....oh joy a super silly still on the drawing board...then poly cups?? drinking straws??? playing cards?? then the punchline...HMP...do I spray good Yorkshire tea all over the place?? not a good option
Mrs Ice and all that cleaning up.

Try to swallow and maybe choke?..that's the better of the two options I think.. :D :D

Thank you Robert for a fun start to my day.. ;)

ps..I'll bring the cards...can you play Canasta?? ;D
