Rough Guide to Alcohol Dilution

Having read more than I probably should about this amazing hobby, I took a lead from Aidanmac's detailed documents and produced a simple chart for the dilution of alcohol. As a newbie I needed a quick reference for getting strip run alcohol ready for the spirit run and then the spirit run output ready for drinking. I'm attaching it in case anyone else would care to comment or use it. The use of colours is to indicate probable/typical outputs from the various types of still and is not definitive. Cheers, SW

That's a very useful chart that will greatly simplify the process for many distillers and, I suspect, take the guesswork out of dilution that many have been using up to now.

All distillers should keep a hard copy for reference. Good job SW ;)

Here's a simple one I made.

Dilution Calculator.xlsx

Just enter the quantity of spirit you want to dilute.
Enter the ABV of the spirit.
Enter the ABV you want to dilute it to.

It will calculate the amount of water you need to add and how much you will end up with (at the ABV you want).

For some reason it won't work on my iPad but it's the same idea as the one on HD - all good!
