Keep us posted. I think the Sputnik will prove more manageable in terms of positioning and how much you can get into it, but interesting nonetheless..

I'm not so sure, looks to me like you could squeeze a kitten into that infuser.
To me the question is how much neutral you could put beneath it, without water logging/spirit logging it in the air still; and alien owns this kit already,so definitely worth a go.

Definitely worth a go.
I did similar thing before building the sputnik.
I found that the flavours very thin. I think the vapor can get past it tooo easily and/or the sieve is not open topped so they don't get out as good as they could.

It will be interesting to see your results. I really like gin making in the AS because it is soooooo quick and so easy to experiment.

Hmm, maybe you could at that - but I can get most of a cat into my Sputnik! The jury has to be out, but I think Mash mad a good point about the vapour path.

Cat gin?? No no no, definitely NOT going to try that one.

It might struggle. I certainly fill my sputnik.

Have we got a few recipes on here that are easy to get too for beginners?

I posted a couple under recipes for the
Airstill, the Plymouth one is easy and tasty.

Ye gadz,how much compost are you putting in there?
A Golf ball of very dried Juniper berries is around 10g.
Where is the cost efficiency?

On the face of it I see your point.

However a few points might help ...

I do not ram it in to allow better permeability.

It aint really that big.

The Citrus Peel is bulky.

Scalability is linear, so a 3 litre run is 3x the ingredients. That's some compost.

Efficiency: 3L / 4 bottles of bespoke gin brings a wee tear of happiness to eye of my inner Scotsman

I am running it again soon. Might do a 'how to' with photos including a run.

I haven't actually tried mine yet but am hoping to try some aquavit soon.

I have taken a folding steamer (around a fiver on Amazon) and put some copper legs on it.
