Hi There;

I'm new to this game and like a lot of others was first drawn to the hobby by price at first. Now I'm wanting to improve my product as well as try other things. I just purchased a T500 and have made one run at 90% ans 3.5 ltr which I am happy with.
My better half likes the Vodka and flavoured drinks I make but I'm more of a Dark Rum/ Whiskey guy. I have been making my own Beer and Wine/Sherry,Port for many years but would like to branch off line a bit.
The reason for my post is it possible to make good Dark Rum and Good whisky with a t500 and are there any tips and tricks that you guys and gals could help me with.

Thanks

afaik, it is possible to run the T500 in pot still mode but probably better to make a pot still head for it. If you're not into diy then maybe you can find someone will build it for you?

+1 You definitely need a proper pot still head to make real Rum and Whisky/Whiskey ;)

Some Caribbean rum set ups use double thumpers, and the abv come off quite high because of this. The T500 will produce some cracking white rum.
I use a short column for this and like to be putting out 92-93% which is about where the T500 plays.

For whisky you are going to want a pot still, but you should be able to make a good rum without changing your equipment.

I guess I will have to look into a a pot head I know there are lots of home made ones on line I just have to find one that is detailed enough for my mechanical abilities!

When I started out I had no clue about this sort of thing but I quickly discovered that it's really quite simple.

Anyone on here who has built their own will be happy to help ;) you're not alone ;)
