I have two "Teddies fast vodka" washes
approaching completion. Have used All
Bran for cereal, its what I had in the cupboard.
300grams per 25ltr wash.
Hoping to carry some flavour over, done
for my daughter, the vodka lover.
Should I use T5oo with reflux and go
for purity without the flavour or fit
the copper and treat it like my rum??
Please help can't decide

I ran a wheat germ wash through the AirStill. There was a LOT of flavour. Too much for a vodka, it tasted more like a whiskey. I carbon filtered it for neutral. I'd go with the reflux.

Ok so lots of flavour Chill. So am I
better off putting that on oak and
do her some kale.
This is it,oaked what does it produce
whats the taste, like a whisky ?
It smells very pleasant and All Bran
is a very strong taste ?
Would you drink it at the same time
every day ?

Sorry to add to the confusion. I recently ran the bran & weetabix wash in the airstill and it was as neutral as kale. I still can't figure that out.

This one had a very pleasant strong
smell of bran. Should that come thru.
The bran was boiled for 5mins and
simmered for 30mins.

@mash - that is confusing, I can't explain that
@gaza - I thought it would be and nuked it with some JD chips. The wheat germ taste was too strong for the result to be pleasant for me. With All Bran you might have a better result. I you can carbon filter, I'd try the JD chips first and then filter it if you did not like it.

Pot still it first, if you don't like it then water it back & reflux it for another go!

Thanks Chill good idea,the neutral
nuked on JD chips was a great success.
Has anyone tried reusing them?
What was the outcome?

It really is the beauty of this hobby mate! It doesn't matter how god awful what you make is, you can always dilute it back down & have another go. Especially if you have a reflux top which can strip almost all flavour out anyway, nothing goes to waste, everything can be recycled

I wish I liked gin, I have an increasingly full feints container! One day I will get round to making a reflux top for my pot!

gaza,do you not answer your question in the first post?
Making Vodka for your daughter?
Do it clean.
Do half for yourself with flavour.
Two runs,more work,two drinks.
Robert.
We have a lone gosling named Gaz,sole hatchling from 14.

Yes could do two different runs
with the Airstill. Think I will
pot still the lot then decide.
