@Maker. Dump your Vodka Star and use a plain old bakers yeast. I use Angel. I t is available in the UK. Amazon I think.

You will need to add some nutrition as GS seems to be limited. I use fresh dead yeast.

You want flavour, so no reflux, packing, etc. Run it wide open. Heat setting to give a good boil, but its not a steam engine.

You are not after a neutral.

Not a steam engine John, I can just imagine you
as a steam boat Captain John.
Reminds me Captain W.E.Johns wrote all the Biggles
stories and lived next door to my Dad in Hampton
Court when he was a boy. Told me Cptn Johns used
to tell him Biggles stories in his garden. Sadly
neither are with us any more, but how quaint.

I loved Biggles books as a kid.

Always wanted to build a steam powered lake or river boat. I lived on the Sacramento river (California) for several years. 1000 miles of waterway. Many old steamboats but I only ran diesel.
